LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT ME

"And your body is the harp of your soul

And it is yours to bring forth sweet music from it or confused sounds."

-Kahlil Gibran

From my grandmother who passed before I was born, I inherited her profile, her hair color, and her scoliosis.

Without my command my heart never skips a beat and my lungs continue to breathe. My cells don't have to be told what to do; they know their job. The blueprint of my body was mapped for me. It is designed to receive instruction and it responds accordingly. I am in complete awe of this amazing instrument and beautiful piece of art. My body is truly magnificent.

Fashion model Cameron Russell humbly explained it this way in her January 2013 TEDx talk, "...there's very little that we can do to transform how we look; and how we look, though it is superficial and immutable, has a huge impact on our lives...So the first question is, how do you become a model? I always just say, 'Oh, I was scouted,' but that means nothing. The real way that I became a model is I won a genetic lottery."

You, too, inherited a genetic concoction of qualities and characteristics from those who came before you in your family line. You received more than your looks from your old grands and greats. Genetic expression encompasses nearly everything in regards to the vessel of clay in which your soul lives. And this brings me to my point:

YOU ARE NOT YOUR BODY.

Your body is the harp of your soul, as stated by Kahlil Gibran. Your body is the tool to help you accomplish the task of your spirit; it is a precious gift to give you experiences and to explore life. It has been said that we are not physical beings having spiritual experiences, but spiritual beings having physical experiences. I couldn't agree more.

You have a physical body. You also have a spiritual body. And an emotional body. And an energetic body.

They are all connected.

YOUR SOUL IS WHO ARE.

"I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations
I am a soul that lives within."

-India Arie

Your body houses your soul; it needs to be nourished and cherished, and treated lovingly and with respect. It changes throughout the years and deserves to be considered wise amongst the changes. Your body is wise. It protects you as much as possible. If you give it the right tools, it will heal and thrive.

I'm not particularly interested in how fit or how fat you are. I'm not interested in honing in on "hitting the gym hard" or weight loss for the mere sake of fitting the mould of a shaky definition of beauty. While regular, moderate exercise is crucial to good health, what I'm super interested in is your health and your soul.

I'm passionate about helping you feel your best so you can do what you are meant to do with your life.

I know what it's like to struggle with health problems. I know what it's like to not know where to turn or find the answers. I know what it's like to think that there may not be an answer. I also know that bodies were meant to heal and given the right tools and time, they can heal. I want to help you overcome your health challenges. I want to help you feel your best. I want to help you look your best.

My mission is to help my clients achieve their health goals and lead fulfilling lives with vibrant health.

"Even your body knows its heritage and its rightful need and will not be deceived."

-Kahlil Gibran

I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied:

  • Bio-individuality, a dynamic concept which brings to focus an individual's dietary needs based on age, gender, genetics, culture, climate, disposition, and religion. For as we know, one person's food is another person's poison.

  • Primary Food, which, in essence, is what feeds your soul. Primary food has a unique and crucial relationship to health and diet. If your Primary Food is vastly imbalanced, your diet will surely follow.

  • Counseling with compassion. If you're looking for a kick-your-booty kind of coach then you might want to keep looking, because you probably won't be seeing much of that from me. Don't get me wrong; I won't let you slack off. But you need to be heard and understood. My style is to be your guide and lead you with clarity and purpose, and to give you a strong foundation so you can confidently continue your journey beyond your program with me.

I received my training as a Nutritional Therapist from the Health Sciences Academy, where I studied genetics, micronutrients, antioxidants, probiotics, superfoods, and more.

With much gratitude, I am honored to have been a 2015 scholarship recipient of the #DoChange campaign for Andrea Nakayama's online functional nutrition program, Holistic Nutrition Lab. I was thoroughly trained in the anatomy and physiology of multiple systems of the body, and the biochemistry of food in relation to the body. Andrea is a renowned nutritionist and a wise mentor. I am incredibly blessed to be a recipient of her generosity and having the opportunity of immersing myself in her incredible program.

I consider myself a lifelong student and will continue pursuing an excellent education with more training in specific programs.
